NZ Archbishop Going Over To Rome

But no swimming of the Tiber is involved! Our Archbishop David Moxon is going to be "the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Representative to the Holy See and Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome." Hmm, some study leave is on the horizon ... I might have a word :) Read more here, here and here. ++David will be missed, much.

  1. Peter, I just couldn't resist commenting on this latest news - despite my an indication that I would not be commnenting here until after Christmas (Diana and i leave for Tahiti on Friday).

Having been at St. John's College, Auckland, when David returned To do Maori Studies with John Tamahori - fresh from studies at Oxford University - we all guessed he was destined for something important in the Church. Well, he did become our Archbishop!

Archbishop David will make an excellent representative of the Anglican Communion in his new role as Head of the Anglican Centre in Rome, and as the Archbishop of Canterbury's Representative to the Holy See. It's good to see a Three -Tikanga, culturally-immersed, Kiwi in a place of real influence in the ecumenical world of Church Mission.

  3. This is the postmodern crises. What deception and temptation has overcome him and others, into conceiving that the damned Catholic --or the Eastern/Oriental Orthodox-- are a viable alternative. Why dont these types help to save Protestantism from its Western predicament?

Also, being Anglican creates further complex--with that Anglo-Catholic nonsense.

  4. Mr Mcgranor,

Archbishop David is not joining the RC, he is going as a representative of the Anglican Communion, an ambassador if you like.

As a Protestant myself I have some serious disagreements with aspects of RC and Eastern Orthodox teaching, but "damned"?

    Seriously?

  5. Yes... I think its clear. At the heights of bigotry, you will find utter piety towards a revelation of God that many of us once knew, and will know again; if we are to be. And i know that he was not converting. He is just joining their evil system.
