Pauls' three missionary journeys were by train, underground and linking ferry ...

  1. If Paul had been an American, he would have just driven a car. Much more efficient in terms of time and effort. No schedules but his own. No need to deal with the problem of travel from the train station to the final destination. For trips over long distances he would have taken a plane, plus a rental car at the destination. But a train? Waaay too slow. Too many intermediate stops. The only thing worse than a train would be a bus.

  2. Some scholars, Carl, dispute the train theory and argue that buses were used ...

There have actually been reported sightings of passenger trains in the US, but none have ever been confirmed. The Air Force is supposed to be starting an investigation call "Project Blue Line" to see if there might be any threat to US national security. Personally, I think its just a cover story for secret US military research.

  4. At least, Paul wouldn't have to take the risk of getting mugged on the underground systems in today's big cities. He probably suffered from sore feet though - a likely form of symbolic martyrdom.

"How beautiful are the feet of them who bring the gospel of Peace". We can do with that in a Church bent on institutional schism.

  5. These "scholars" are evidently ignorant libruls who don't know Isaiah 6:1 : "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high
and lifted up, and his train filled the temple."

Their "bus theory" is due to their misreading of Matthew 28:20 in the Vulgate, 'ego vobiscum omnibus diebus'.

If Paul had been an American, he would have borrowed money off an eastern merchant and paid Timothy or some other foreigner to do his journeys for him.

The map is quite wrong, in any case. The Circle Line is yellow, and the Jubilee line to the west (Heathrow and Spain) is purple.

  6. I think St Paul would be mildly pleased to know one of the underground stations is named after him.
But he would prefer to boast about King's Cross.

  7. Some German scholars have just published the results of higher scholarship. Apparently, with the aid of Leonardo da Vinci (an Italian missionary with a helicopter), Paul sometimes skipped the slow trains through the mountains and used da Vinci's helicopter (nicknamed "Code").
