Thanks to Cranmer for these two photos, posted in connection with an apology the C of E has issued to Darwin. Yes, really. Silly, isn't it. UPDATE: A comment from Doug Chaplin points out that 'C of E apology to Darwin' is media spin from a throwaway line in an article by a C of E employee.

That the C 0f E has issued an apology seems to be media spin. An individual employed by the C of E to work in public affairs and mission finishes an online article with a peroration addressed rhetorically to Darwin himself, saying "the Church of England owes you an apology …". I can see no way in which this could logically be construed as an official apology by anyone except a media hack seeking a story to justify their existence (and, probably, a rather desperate employee seeking publicity for their writing)!
