Stolen thunder?

On the stole worn by Benedict, originating with N & V Leo ("Null and Void"), see now Cranmer's post on 24th September 2010!

Cranmer is well-known for reworking previous material into new work for which he gets credited! ;-)

Are you still maintaining your position that Benedict is wearing the stole because Leo ordained Newman (which he didn't) or are you retracting that - remember that your only alternative left may be your words "is it really imaginable that this man of luminous intelligence would be so small-minded as to wear such a stole solely for the purpose of rubbing English Anglican noses in the reality of their ‘null and void’ orders?"

Blessings

Kindergarten stuff.

No wonder the churches are empty - this has nothing what ever to do with the spreading Gospel of the Church established by Christ.

Who needs it.

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Hi Bosco,
The facts do stand in the way of asserting that it was Leo's ordaining Newman stole (it was not, he did not)!

In the end, unless we have some direct evidence from B16 re the wearing of the stole and the motivation for doing so if it is Leo's, we are left with quite a lot of speculation.

The flip side of my 'small minded' query is that, yes, it could turn out that this man of luminous intelligence is small-minded!

On the papal dress code (and in case anyone missed this when it was doing the rounds a few years ago): http://quotesandmusings.blogspot.com/2006/05/whats-going-around.html
