New Saying of Jesus Discovered

Bosco Peters has been Tweeting too furiously this morning to notice that in the newly discovered Q manuscript (he has world exclusive here) there is a significant new saying of Jesus to be found, far outweighing all other astonishing discoveries in this document.

But I can reveal it to you and it is this:

"There is no fool like an old fool."

You read it here on the first day of April 2016!

ADDED: If humour is not for you today (and it is a black day for comedy with the death of Ronnie Corbett announced) then why not try Camille Paglia on Bob Dylan, courtesy BabyBlueOnline? You can even listen to Dylan's totally brilliant Desolation Row.

At last Peter! Some real culture on ADU! I refer to your reference to Robert Zimmermann's alter ego ... For the benefit of other bloggers and to substantiate the reasoning of Camille - if that were necessary: cf. Christopher Ricks, Dylan's Visions of Sin (Viking, 2003), which has seven chapters on the Seven Deadly Sins, four on the Four Virtues, and concludes with three on The Heavenly Graces of Faith, Hope and Love. His voice is that of the Commander-in-Chief, Wisdom's Lyricism for us today. All duly noted this 1st April 2016!

Time for him to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature - if only to decline: Thanks but no thanks ...

How interesting that there was a meeting at St. Christopher's church, Christchurch, yesterday, 1st April; to hear an academic theologian talking about the relevasnce of 'First and Second Order" priorities in Anglican Faith and Doctrine.

I was not able to attend and am, therefore, not able to comment on any outcome or learnings from this experience. I wonder, Peter, can anyone who did manage to attend the presentation have any comments to make, that might shed more light than heat on the evening's proceedings?

I am particularly interested in any reference to the G.S. Motion 30.

Hi Ron
The talk last night should be available soon on the web (probably an audio link on the dio website and a video link on YouTube). I will notify readers here when I am aware of the links having been posted.

The whole evening was one of light and not of heat, as Chris Marshall gave an exposition of Romans 14 and 15 in respect of handling differences in the life of the church.

Hi Peter
Your description of the evening does not sound at all like what was advertised in the diocese.

Hi Steve
The relationship between the focus on Romans 14 and 15 and the advertising of the talk as about first and second order issues in respect of understanding Scripture was that Romans 14 and 15 involves Paul working through with his readers how they should respect each other when they differ over essentials (first order) and disagree as to what non-essentials are (second order).
