"Cultism in religion is surely an outward and visible sign of their aversion to the inclusivity of the Body of Christ."
*Cults* require members who are willing to submit to intrusive control, and if asked, to impose it on others. Inclusion in a cult is costly, but cults are not usually exclusive.
Statistical studies correlating religion and suicide have shown that, other factors being equal, those in the most and least controlling religious groups have an elevated risk of suicide. We might explain this by hypothesising that, while non-controlling religious groups induce the dangers of anomie or isolation, highly controlling religious groups induce the dangers of low self-efficacy or low self-determination. Ceteris paribus, members of religious groups with moderate control have the lowest risk of suicide.
