I have tried telling you but few seem to be listening

A few commenters here are picking up on my attempts to warn that the collapse of the world finance system may be imminent.  Admittedly I am not even a rank amateur in international finance and global economics. On the other hand you could try to buy some German bonds. Few seem to want them these days.

Of course I am kind of scaremongering, the more so if the sun does not darken and the moon keeps glistening, and the enemy does not arrive at the gates with tribulation never before experienced ... Yes, I am beginning to think about preaching this Sunday, Mark 13:24-37 and all that. Mind you, going back to my first paragraph, the great warning in that reading is "Be alert!"

And you won't hear anything on Sunday morning about Jesus being a scaremongerer.

BREAKING NEWS: Church insurance troubles for many NZ churches including most Anglican churches ... troubled insurer pulls out early from NZ market.

POSTSCRIPT: For a considered, longer, but troubling article on the world economy, read this review of Boomerang.

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Well done Peter in alerting folk to what is an unprecedented post GFC FC! When the Japanese and Asians generally pulled out of Germany last Th & Fri it was ... scary. For the Germans were assumed to be the pillars of the Eurozone bail-outs ... QED: but what exactly that 'quod' equals we shall have to wait and see ....

I fear the price of commodities may crash, Bryden, for if governments cannot pay benefits and pensions, there must be less money in economies to spend on food (let alone other items) ... and the point of the warning lies in our lack of clear knowledge of how many countries are exposed to other countries ... dominoes anyone?

Meantime, Andy S rightly points us to Jesus, his mission and the gospel. Salvation lies in no other.

Well, Peter and Bryden, you'd better withdraw all your many investments and bury them underground. Andy, obviously is getting worried.

Hi Ron,
I do not have many investments (and the majority investment, effectively, is my membership of our church's pension fund).

Bryden, as you know, is a farmer. As far as I can tell he is in partnership with the Lord in shared ownership of 'the cattle on a thousand hills' (!!), so I guess he may have some extra assistance compared to those whose investments ultimately track to Wall Street or the London Stock Exchange!!

No Father Ron - I accept we live in a fallen world and that 7 years of plenty will be followed by 7 years of famine and try to act accordingly.

As Peter notes the omens are bad. Our elites will try and stave off disaster or a least mitigate its worst effects and as they do others will seek to advantage themselves of the processes thus undermining the intent of those programs.

So it goes. Human affairs are messy.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Actually, Ron and Peter: I had a delightful conversation some 4 years ago with someone who was trying to endorse his sole commodity trading, vaunting the supposed profits therefrom.

“But”, I objected, “what stands behind those pixels on your screen, to which you devote so much attention?” He didn’t get it at first ... But when I finally pointed out that at the end of the day, his pixels could crash (puns intended), and I’d still have my bull and cows on those hills - he got the point. And I gather from a mutual friend, things have not gone quite as well as he expected since GFC ... And the cows are looking stunning these days - as are the sheep and lambs too! DG!!! And folk will have to eat something ...

I presume none of your animals, Bryden, is exhibiting any sign of a 'deviant' sexuality? Or is it only human being that are denied the faculty of chromosomal difference?
