General Synod news and views

Our diocesan secretaries make their way to Gisborne today, our bishops and clerical and lay representatives tomorrow. Their aim: to participate in General Synod (which includes caucusing opportunities for each tikanga to meet separately; the name of the NZ pakeha dioceses caucus is Inter Diocesan Conference (IDC)).

You can go to Taonga for some previews, or get there via Thinking Anglicans which has a link to Bosco Peters' plea for online access to the GS papers.

The big issues, in my view, are:

the Anglican Covenant and our church's response to it, which may devolve to the question of 'how will we respond to it?'

I understand the debate will be Monday.

St John's College, Meadowbank, Auckland and General Synod's response to a special review report-and-recommendations about its future governance.

I understand the debate will be Wednesday.
